From Street Momos to Himalayan Empire

Picture 1989 in Mussoorie: a young Tibetan immigrant named Jamyang Kalsang sets up a modest cart, steaming family momo recipes that quickly draw crowds from chilly hill streets. By 1998, those flavors filled the first Kalsang outlet there, sparking growth to over 13 spots across North India and Nepal, blending Chinese stir-fries, Thai tang, Korean spice, and pure Tibetan comfort. Today, leading Kalsang Restaurants Private Limited, he sources fresh local ingredients sustainably, employing over 500 to keep every bite a blessing of quality.

The Name That Promises Fortune

Kalsang itself whispers promise, rooted in Tibetan where “Kal” signals fortune and “Sang” excellence, evoking good fortune in every shared meal. Jamyang chose it to mirror his dream of joyful dining, a nod to Buddhist ideals of happiness that warms each outlet’s murals and lanterns.
