Yamuna Expressway Emergency Guide: Numbers, Ambulances and First-Aid Points to Save

If you regularly use the Yamuna Expressway, three numbers are worth saving on your phone before your next trip.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, or YEIDA, currently lists separate control-room numbers for the two main stretches of the 165-km expressway, along with a toll-free number that can be used in case of an accident or incident.

YEIDA also publishes the locations of ambulances and first-aid facilities along the corridor.

One limitation is worth knowing before you travel. YEIDA’s public information confirms emergency-response arrangements, but it does not state that towing is free, guarantee a particular response time or confirm that every individual emergency call box is currently operational. If your vehicle breaks down, contact the expressway control room and ask what assistance is available at your location.

These are the accident and incident numbers currently published on YEIDA’s Yamuna Expressway information page.

For a serious emergency requiring police, fire or medical assistance, residents can also dial 112, the Government of India’s unified Emergency Response Support System number.

Save These Numbers Before Starting Your Journey

Mobile connectivity can vary while travelling, and an emergency is not the ideal time to begin searching online.

Saving the relevant control-room number and the toll-free number before departure takes less than a minute.

It is also useful to share them with family members if someone in the household frequently travels towards Jewar, Mathura or Agra.

Where Does YEIDA List Ambulances on the Yamuna Expressway?

YEIDA currently lists ambulance deployment at six points along the expressway:

• Km 16
• Km 35: Trauma Centre
• Km 38: Jewar Toll Plaza
• Km 95: Mathura Toll Plaza
• Km 107: Trauma Centre
• Km 150: Agra Toll Plaza

These should be treated as published deployment points rather than a promise that a particular ambulance will always remain stationary at that kilometre marker.

In an emergency, contact the control room and provide your location instead of attempting to drive towards an ambulance point yourself.

The Authority’s page uses the abbreviations LHS and RHS. If you are calling for help, it is safer to tell the control room your direction of travel and nearest kilometre marker rather than relying only on left-side or right-side terminology.

What Should You Tell the Control Room?

The more accurately you describe your position, the easier it is for an emergency team to understand where assistance is required.

Try to provide:

• Your nearest kilometre marker.
• Whether you are travelling towards Greater Noida or towards Agra.
• The nearest toll plaza, interchange or recognisable landmark, if known.
• Your vehicle type and registration number.
• Whether the vehicle is stopped in a traffic lane, shoulder or another location.
• Whether anyone is injured.
• Whether there is a fire, fuel leak or another immediate hazard.

If you have moved away from the vehicle for safety, tell the operator where you are standing.

What Emergency Facilities Does YEIDA Say Are Available?

YEIDA says the expressway has designated emergency-response teams operating on a 24×7 basis.

Its published expressway information describes quick-response and firefighting vehicles, route-patrol vehicles and security vehicles as part of the emergency system.

The corridor is also monitored through highway-traffic-management infrastructure that includes surveillance cameras, variable message signs and a central control system.

These facilities are part of the published expressway provision. Their existence should not be interpreted as a guaranteed response time for every incident.

What About the Emergency Call Boxes Along the Expressway?

YEIDA says emergency call boxes have been placed at intervals of every 2 km and are intended to connect road users with the control centre.

That can be useful if a traveller cannot use a mobile phone.

However, Pulse of Noida has not physically checked every emergency call box along the 165-km corridor. The official information establishes the provision and intended spacing, not the live working status of every individual unit.

If your mobile phone is working, calling the relevant corridor control number remains a straightforward option.

What Should You Do if Your Car Breaks Down?

A mechanical breakdown is different from an accident, and YEIDA’s public page does not specify a standard free-towing entitlement.

If your vehicle becomes immobile:

1. Move it away from live traffic if this can be done safely.
2. Switch on hazard lights.
3. Avoid standing in an active traffic lane.
4. Note the nearest kilometre marker and your direction of travel.
5. Call the relevant Yamuna Expressway corridor number or toll-free number.
6. Explain that the problem is a vehicle breakdown and ask what roadside or towing assistance is available.

Do not assume that towing is free or included until the control room confirms the applicable arrangement.

Accident, Injury or Immediate Danger: Use 112 as Well

India’s Emergency Response Support System uses 112 as the nationwide single emergency number for police, fire and rescue, health and other emergency services.

For a serious crash, fire, medical emergency or immediate threat to life, calling 112 in addition to informing the expressway control room can help connect the incident with the wider emergency-response system.

Do Not Confuse Expressway Numbers With YEIDA Customer Care

YEIDA also operates general customer-care and Authority contact numbers for property, citizen-service and administrative queries.

Those are separate from the Yamuna Expressway accident and incident numbers listed above.
