Noida Metro’s Aqua Line recorded its highest-ever single-day ridership of 1,05,358 passengers on October 23, 2026. Following the record, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has announced plans to run trains more frequently during peak hours from November 1.
The proposed improvement is relevant to commuters travelling between Noida and Greater Noida, particularly those who use the Aqua Line for daily office, college and other journeys.
According to an official press release issued on October 24, NMRC also plans to examine longer late-night services. However, that proposal has not yet been finalised.
How will Aqua Line train frequency change?
NMRC plans to reduce the time between successive trains during peak hours.
- Current Peak-Hour Interval: 7 minutes 30 seconds.
- Planned Peak-Hour Interval: 6 minutes 35 seconds.
- Proposed Implementation Date: November 1, 2026.
The revised interval would reduce the scheduled gap between peak-hour trains by 55 seconds.
For commuters, this could mean less waiting at stations during busy travel periods.
However, the new frequency has not yet taken effect. NMRC’s October 24 announcement describes it as a planned operational change.
Will the Aqua Line run later at night?
NMRC is also considering extending its late-night train services.
Under the proposal, the last train from Sector 51 towards Depot Station would depart at 11:25 PM.
The corporation has clarified that this change depends on the finalisation of operational arrangements and a feasibility assessment.
This means passengers should not treat 11:25 PM as the confirmed last departure time.
Until NMRC formally announces revised services, commuters should continue checking the existing timetable before planning late-night journeys.
Why has Aqua Line ridership increased?
NMRC reported its highest daily ridership of 1,05,358 passengers on October 23.
In its October 24 statement, the corporation also reported a 20% increase in average daily ridership, which it attributed to several passenger-service initiatives.
These include:
- QR-Code-Based Ticketing.
- National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) implementation.
- Improved connectivity through the foot overbridge.
- Other passenger-service improvements.
The 20% figure is NMRC’s reported assessment. The announcement does not provide a detailed comparative dataset establishing the contribution of each initiative.

What about last-mile connectivity?
NMRC said it is consulting relevant stakeholders to improve last-mile connectivity for passengers.
The announcement does not identify new feeder routes, confirmed shuttle services or implementation dates.
Any new last-mile arrangements will therefore require a separate official announcement before commuters can rely on them.
